This course is designed to prepare students to apply the theory of human response to illness in providing advanced nursing care for patients and family members. This course focuses on the preparation of syudents for advanced practice roles in care of child, adult, elderly people with acute and chronic stages of illness in a variety o f practice settings. This course guides students to integrate the knowledge about biologic and physiologic and emtional effects of stress and the signs and symptoms in patients. Based on comprehensive understanding patients' and family's response to illness, students will learn how to deliver, design and test nursing intervention in order to reduce patients and their family members' suffering and to enhance well-being. Moreover, the concept of patient safety and outcome management will be emphasized in the course to help students provide quality of advanced nursing care.
